KFC & Taco Bell Finalizing Transition to Trans-Fat Free
May 1st, 2007
I guess in the upcoming weeks you’ll be able to eat your favorite meals at KFC or Taco Bell with a little less guilt! Notice how I said a “little less” guilt; rest assured, you should still feel guilty for every single item you ever eat from both of those places. So why should you feel a “little less guilty?” Simple, they are about to complete their transition into only serving food that is completely free of trans fats.
That’s right, I just read, “The Louisville-based chain announced Monday that all 5,500 of its U.S. restaurants have stopped frying chicken in artery-clogging trans fat. The company had said in October that it was switching to a new soybean oil believed to be less likely to cause heart disease.”
also mentioned that KFC’s sister brand, Taco Bell, has also completed the nation-wide switch away from trans fat, saying that “All 4,200 single-brand Taco Bells were converted to a canola oil, and all 1,400 multibrand locations switched to a soybean oil.” Well, despite the fact that their food is still far from healthy, this is a huge step that I hope more companies follow. Kudos KFC & Taco Bell, Kudos.
