How Fast Does Your Blood Flow?

September 12th, 2007

In an article entitled “Exercise Improves Blood Vessels,” the ICAA (International Council on Active Aging) discusses the effects of aerobic exercise on blood vessels. Not surprisingly, studies show that older men (at an average age of 62) have blood vessels that are more constricted than younger males (average age of 27). However, with a proper exercise regimen, even just walking an hour a day, 5 days per week, one can improve the state of his/her blood vessels, lessening the constriction within. Studies show that, after committing to such a regimen, the older males’ blood vessels more closely resemble those of the younger males.
